Our history
Serving since 1989
Bethel Theological Seminary opened its first academic year on June 13, 1989, with twenty-six students and five faculty members. Its motto is “God Is Able” from 2 Corinthians 9:8.
BTS began theological studies at Diploma level in 1989 and Bachelor level in 1992, with English as the medium of instruction. Master of Arts in Theological Studies followed in 2007, Master of Divinity in 2010, Bachelor of Arts in Communicative English in 2016, and Diploma in Church Music in 2022.
BTS became an accredited member institution of the Association for Theological Education in South East Asia in 2000. Its B.Th. and M.Div. programs were reaccredited by ATESEA in 2025.
